ISI Surakarta’s Cultural Entrepreneurship Hub (CEH) in cooperation with Goethe Institute has held a discussion on “Innovation and Innovator” on October 19, 2018. It has invited Singgih Kartono as the speaker. He is the founder of Magno, an eco-design company that makes wooden radios and other design objects by hand. In 2012, Singgih also founded Spedagi, a social enterprise that produces iconic bamboo bicycles by involving multigenerational teams and empowering local village communities. The design won various national and international awards, including the Brit Design Award (UK), Design Plus Award (Germany), Good Design Award (Japan) and Indonesia Good Design Selection.
The discussion is guided by Yudhi Soerjoatmodjo (CEH Consultant) Singgih Kartono will recount his journey as an entrepreneur, completed with his failures, successes, and best practices to inspire students and great diverse audiences: ISI Surakarta and partner universities’ students, young cultural practitioners in Surakarta, lecturers, communities, businesses, local governments, and so on.
